What a Lovely Bride: Ashlynn Michelle Quirie

Recently, I had the honor to be apart of my best friend’s wedding day. Not only as a MOH but as her makeup artist as well. My beautiful friend Ashlynn Michelle Quirie is apart of the United States Army and her new husband Hunter James Quirie is apart of the United States Marine Corps. I can honestly say that these two have an undying love for each other and it was an complete honor to be apart of their day.

Ashlynn was the most beautiful bride to work on. She has the most beautiful skin which created an effortless canvas. The look she wanted for her day was soft, natural glam. Her, being a make up lover as well she wasn’t afraid of a glamorous wing and a pop of deep magenta on her lips.

Knowing that the wedding was going to take place around 6:00pm, I was sure to do all the other bridesmaids and myself before I started Ashlynn’s makeup. I wanted to have her makeup last through the evening with no problems. This wedding taking place in July, the weather was hot so I was very generous using my trusty MAC Fix+ to set her makeup.

I wanted to have very mauve and warm tones tie into her eyes to complement her choice of lip color. Her cheeks were kept bright yet soft. The contrast between her porcelain, fair toned skin and pinky cheeks was beautiful. We did a light contour to broaden her cheek bones and then created a light wing to tie things together. I kept everything blown out and soft which is a great technique when doing any kind of bridal makeup. I love to use accent lashes on a lot of brides. They create such a seductive yet sweet look for any eye. Most of all, they tend to not irritate the brides eyes. I want my brides to be as comfortable as possible. This being an evening wedding, Ashlynn and Hunter took the most beautiful pictures.

I love specializing in Bridal Makeup. I’m incredibly grateful that Ashlynn chose me to do her makeup for the best day of her life thus far. With her mauve tones and elegant eyes, Ashlynn was an absolute vision.

Lashes. How SENSATIONAL Can They Get?

We all have our ride or die mascaras that we use to vamp up our lashes into our desired pair. Mine happens to be Loreal Telescopic, but I love to experiment with different brands, formulas, and wands. Having short and fine lashes, I tend to use a mascara that has the purpose of lengthening. I love a rubber wand too! Recently, browsing around the drug store I’ve discovered Maybelline’s Lash Sensational. It was just a random buy and it claims to have all the properties that I love in a mascara.

This mascara in its full effect is great. It lengthens my lashes as well as adding some extra volume. It has a curved rubber wand that allows you to really get to the base of your lashes and give them the lift the need. Like all new mascaras, the formula is watery but after a few days it gets tackier. I like to combine both my Loreal Telescopic and this new mascara together. The only thing I really don’t like about this mascara is the packaging. It’s so silly! It’s just bulgy and the color pink is outdated and bland. This mascara is worth a try though!

Lashes make any makeup look. We all want a pair to really enhance our eyes and make us feel beautiful. What are your favorites? Let me know if you’ve tried this one and what you think! Stay pretty friends!

Tis’ the Season to those Dark Lips!

Let the reds, berries, and deep nudes fall from above because Christmas is ONE WEEK AWAY! Through the hustle of the ending holiday season, us beauty lovers live for these rich colors that finish off our gorgeous seasonal makeup looks. Whether its to a work Christmas party or just to finish up last minute shopping, adding this extra color to our lippies makes us feel that much more festive. Here are some of MY favorite lip colors of the season. What are some of your faves? Please enjoy!

blog lip3 blog 6

1. Loréal Privee, Eva’s Nude:  This dark, pinky nude is the perfect day to day lip for the season. I love paring this with my daily makeup looks and even my more dramatic looks. It’s great for day and night and most of all it’s comfortable to wear! Our lips are dryer in the winter months and we do our best to keep them moisturized. This lipstick has a creamy formula that makes for luscious lips. Also, it’s from the drugstore so it’s cheap!

2. Milani Color Statement Lipstick, 07 Best Red: For that classic bold red lip, this would have to be my go to. Milani is definatly a great drugstore brand and the pigment is on point. Also the lasting power is great! I love to pair these red lips with my natural day to day look or with a bronze and gold smokey eye. And again, its cheap!

3. M.A.C. Amorous: This might be one of my FAVORITE lipsticks. Just like any other makeup lover, I adore M.A.C.’s lipsticks.  This particular color is a berry shade that is build-able. I can do just a few dabs of this or pair it with a lip liner to define my lips and deepen the shade. It is beautiful with both natural and dramatic looks.

4. M.A.C. Diva: This vampy color ties any holiday look together. It’s a deep red resembling the color of a perfect red wine. I love wearing this at night and on overcast days oddly, with a dramatic eye. This shade goes with about every skin tone and it’s absolutly stunning.

                                                            Stay pretty my friends!

Here we are… My daily make up routine!

So, I always love to read and watch tutorials on different daily make up routines. As most ladies, we all have our special products and tricks that we like to use every day to make us up a bit. Mine?.. well its a tad bit excessive. I love a full face of make up. For a day to day basis, I use a handful of products but keep it somewhat natural. Natural Glam is what I like to call it! Just give me a contour and high light and a winged eye and I’m good to go. So.. dun duh duh! Here are my RIDE OR DIES!

Base and Foundation: To start my routine, I will moisturize with my normal moisturizer and eye cream. Waiting about five minutes just to let everything absorb, I will then use Aquaphor Healing Oitment to lubricate my lips and M.A.C Prep+Prime Skin Smoother to prime my face with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I buff that all over then pat and push the product into my skin to penetrate it deeper. Moving on to foundation, I use Estēe Lauder Double Wear in the color 2N1 Desert Beige, buffing that into the skin with my Elf Small Stippling Brush. This brush was a little treasure I found at TJ Maxx! It makes for a precise application of my foundation. I love it!

All bout' that BASE.

Concealer, Eyes, and Brows: Following my foundation, I will next use my ring finger to pat in my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade 20 Sand Sable. This particular shade has a yellow undertone which I love because it brightens up my under-eye. I then set this area with my bareMinerals well-rested concealer using my Real Techniques setting brush. I will also touch on my T-zone with this powder. I don’t like to set my whole face with powder because I’m fairly dry. This will simply hold my makeup in place in these areas. Moving on to my eyes, I love to use my M.A.C Pain Pot in Soft Ocher with my ring finger again. It too has a yellow undertone that matches the concealer. Dipping into my Lorac Pro Pallette 2, I will place the color Nectar with my Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush as a soft peachy transition shade into my crease. With my M.A.C 239, I will place the shade Buff all over the lid and on my brow bone, then deepening my crease and lower lash line slightly with the shade LT. Brown with my Sigma E25 Blending   Brush. To finish my eyes I will create a small (somedays I get carried away) wing to accentuate my eye with NYC‘s Liquid Eye Liner. For my brows I love to use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in the shade Medium Brown with my Sigma E85 Small Angle brush to define my brows.

Let there be BROWS!
Let there be BROWS!

Cheeks: Having NO cheek bones whats-o-ever, I have to work some magic here. I love to use NARS Laguna Bronzer with a large Morphe no name fluffy brush to give my face some glow and then deepen the contour of my cheeks with the same color but with my M.A.C 109. This brush is small and dense which creates precise disribution of the pigment onto this area. I will then highlight my cheek bones, bridge of my nose, and fore-head with Sila’s Kitten Highlighter. Using a M.A.C 129 I will dust my M.A.C blush in the shade Blushbaby onto the apples of my cheeks, blending upward.

Mascara:  My eyelashes are hit or miss. I love using my Loreal Telescopic Mascara to lengthen my eyelashes and my Bobbi Brown Smokey Mascara to give a bit of volume. Before coating my lower lashes with mascara I love to line my waterline with my Milani Shadow Eyez eyeshadow stick in the color Almond Cream. This stuff is awesome. It brightens up your eyes and last all day! Super cheap too!

Set it in place: Finally. We’ve reached the end! Lastly, I will set my face with M.A.C Fix+. Fix+ is life thats all I’ve got to say! Then what ever lippy I’m feeling for the day, and BAM! Natural Glam! Well my version of it anyway!
